For the past two years, Strong Stripes has had the privilege of organizing a holiday toy drive to support families with children facing rare diseases and medical conditions at the Ronald McDonald House. This year, on Monday, December 16th, we were thrilled to deliver an incredible collection of toys, made possible by the generosity of Northwood Academy, First Baptist, and other independent contributors.

Student leaders Angelina (First Baptist) and Layla (Northwood Academy) played instrumental roles in rallying their peers and communities to support this meaningful cause. Their dedication and leadership have left me incredibly proud and inspired.

On Monday morning, my team and I visited Northwood Academy to collect the donations. The outpouring of support completely blew me away. Administration, students, and families kept bringing out more toys, filling up cars and trucks to the brim. Chronic childhood illnesses have personally impacted many families at Northwood and First Baptist, and the drive resonated deeply with them, making their support all the more meaningful.

At First Baptist, students were enthusiastic about the opportunity to make a difference too. They eagerly filled donation bins with toys, bringing joy and hope to children in need. We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many contributors outside of these schools who supported the drive. Your kindness and generosity have been overwhelming and truly inspiring.

Upon tallying up the donations, we were astounded to realize we had collected $10,425 worth of toys! When we arrived at the Ronald McDonald House later that day, there were so many toys that they didn’t even fit in their donation closet—we had to overflow into administrators’ offices!

We can’t wait for the children and families to receive these gifts. The holiday season can be an especially difficult and frightening time to be in the hospital, and our goal is to ensure that every child knows they are loved, supported, and not alone.

It is always such a privilege to organize this toy drive, and we are deeply inspired by the outpouring of support we received this year. Thank you to everyone who contributed, from the bottom of our hearts. Together, we have made a difference in the lives of so many families.
